Finding the best devotional books for kids can be hard\u2014especially with little ones who wiggle and squirm! Here are our favorite devotionals that made family Bible time easier and more engaging. Note: these are probably best suited for the kindergarten through 6th grade range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Favorite Kids’ Devotional Books<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Indescribable<\/em> Series by Louis Giglio<\/strong>. My boys are VERY into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We came across Louis Giglio\u2019s devotional books, and they have been a homerun with our boys. Every chapter tells something interesting about creation, nature, how the world works, etc. and ties in a lesson about God\u2019s character. They are picking up facts that feed their curiously about the world and at the same time, learning about God\u2019s design, power, love and creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Roar Like a Lion<\/em> by Levi Lusko<\/strong>. A similar book that ties STEM facts with Biblical truth is \u201cRoar Like a Lion.\u201d Amazon actually suggested it as a \u201cIf you liked Louis Giglio\u2019s Indescribable books, you might like this.\u201d I have to say, Amazon recommendations are usually pretty accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The Ology<\/em> by Marty Machowski<\/strong>. After we went through the previously books multiple times each, we started The Ology<\/em>. Obviously, a book with this title is going to cover sound theology. It\u2019s organized in eleven main sections. This has been good to go through as family so we can cover the basic tenants of our faith and cover topics we might not have otherwise. There are parent questions at the back as well and additional Bible verses to look up if you want to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Ways to Get Kids Engaged with God\u2019s Word<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Lumo<\/strong>. This isn\u2019t book related, but I wanted to share it as another idea. Lumo is a YouTube channel that presents the Gospels, chapter by chapter. It\u2019s narrated straight from the Bible and has videos to accompany it. My boys don\u2019t always have the attention span to sit and read a whole chapter of the Bible together. But they were very engaged watching these videos. Here is a link to the channel – https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VED-6OkM7Js&list=PLcJVIuhI8isJJgv2R7PgPTFK5hpZSwckj<\/a> It’s also available is MANY different languages if that is helpful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Bible storybooks \/ Bibles<\/strong>. Lastly, I wanted to share a few Bibles that my boys have enjoyed. In some seasons of life, we would just read a chapter or story from one of these children\u2019s Bibles together. All are visually appealing to children, while also presenting the gospel message in a way kids can understand.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    And as my boys have gotten older, they\u2019ve wanted their own Bibles. We landed on the The Adventure Bible for Early Readers (NIrV edition). There are several versions of this Bible available, and since my boys like lions, they both chose this one. It has a cool magnetic closure and is hardback, so it\u2019s more kid-proof. It\u2019s also written more in a way kids understand. This is geared towards the 6-10 year old age-range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
