It\u2019s simple, thoughtful and , and something your children will likely treasure forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ideal time to start is during your child\u2019s kindergarten year, but honestly, you can begin at any age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What You Need<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/42FddUI\"><em>Oh the Places You&#8217;ll Go<\/em><\/a> by Dr. Seuss (hardcover version)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A reminder on your calendar each spring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teachers willing to write short notes or encouragement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Concept<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each year, ask your child\u2019s teacher to write a short message inside the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continue the tradition from kindergarten through 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade, then give the book to your child at high school graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end, your child will have years of memories, encouragement, and handwritten notes from the teachers who helped shape their life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How I Do It<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I put a reminder on my calendar for the beginning of May each year to email my children\u2019s teachers and ask if they would be willing to sign the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because I want this to stay a surprise, I place the book in a manila envelope and write:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAttention Ms. Teacher &#8211; Please send home with my child when you are finished.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My children become the couriers, but they have no idea what\u2019s inside the envelope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to keep the surprise completely secret, you could also drop the book off at the school office and pick it up later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What About Middle School and High School?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My older son is in middle school now, and he has several teachers throughout the year \u2013 some only for a quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For middle school (and probably high school too), I casually ask him during the year who is favorite teacher is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I contact that teacher and ask if they would be willing to sign the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Graduation Reveal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When your child graduates from high school, give them the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After years of collecting messages from teachers, coaches and mentors, it becomes much more than a book \u2013 it becomes a time capsule of their childhood and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can only imagine how meaningful it will feel to read through the years of encouragement, memories, and handwritten notes from the people who helped shaped their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s such a simple idea, but I truly think it will become one of their most treasured keepsakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you have any meaningful traditions or keepsakes you\u2019re creating for your children?
