It’s almost Mother’s Day, and I wanted to share some of my favorite ideas for the book-loving mom in your life (and give you a few ideas to pass on to your family for you!)

Best Books for Moms Who Love to Read
- The New Mom’s Guide to Life with Baby by Susan Besze Wallace. This is one of the first books I bought myself after becoming a mom. I had read several “What to Expect” books during pregnancy and books on helping baby eat, sleep and play in the early months. But this book spoke to a completely different part of me. It helped to normalize all the feelings I was having – of joy, overwhelm, wonderment, discouragement and everything in-between. It also had practical tips and quotes from other moms in the thick of mothering. Every chapter ends with a few reflection questions, so I kept a journal with it too. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to any first-time mom.
- Strong Mothers, Strong Sons by Dr. Meg Meeker. Another recommendation from Dr. Meg Meeker. She is one of those authors where if she writes it, I will read it. This book focuses on the mother/son relationship and the important role mothers have in shaping their sons to be extraordinary men.
- The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers by Dr. Meg Meeker. Meg Meeker is one of the first parenting experts I started following when I became a mom. She is authentic, approachable and offers great advice to parents. This book focuses on how moms can incorporate new habits into their parenting that benefit both their children and themselves.
- The Magic of Motherhood by Ashlee Gadd. This book is a collection of essays from the writers at Coffee and Crumbs. I have been reading their essays since the website launched, and I was so excited when they released this book. It will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. Like their podcast tagline, you will feel safe, known, encouraged and loved while reading this book.
- Deliberate Motherhood. This book was written by a community of moms called Power of Moms, and it focuses on 12 attributes that can help moms navigate motherhood better. This is an all-around encouraging read.
- World Changer by Karen Vaughn. I heard Karen Vaughn speak on a podcast and immediately bought the book afterward. Karen’s son was killed while serving abroad as a Navy SEAL, and this is their story. It will challenge you and motivate you in the trenches of mothering.
- What a Difference a Mom Makes by Dr. Kevin Leman. Dr. Kevin Leman is another author where I will read anything and everything he writes. I value his advice and approach to parenting and life, and this book is especially encouraging for moms raising sons.
- So God Made a Mother: Tender, Proud, Strong, Faithful, Known, Beautiful, Worthy, and Unforgettable–Just Like You by Leslie Means. I haven’t read this book yet, but I’m hoping my family takes note (ahem, boys). It’s a collection of essays on mothering, and I know it will be encouraging and thought-provoking.
